Samuel J. Cassara was born 8-19-1944 in New Rochelle, New York to Peter Cassara and Margie Monroe Cassara. His Dad, Peter was born in New Rochelle, New York and his mom, Margie Monroe was born in Vero Beach, Florida.
When he was 3 years old his parents moved to Vero Beach. His Dad started Cassara Wholesale Produce and his Mom was in the restaurant business. She owned the Hunters’ Inn in Yeehaw Junction. Eventually she owned the Colonial Restaurant on 14th Avenue, Vero Beach. That same landmark is now called the 14th Avenue Steakhouse!
Dr. Cassara attended St. Helen’s Catholic for grammar and middle school, then went to St. Leo’s College Prepatory School in Zephyr Hills Florida for his high school education. He graduated in 1963.
He received his B.S. degree from West Florida for Physical Education. He was a PE teacher at Gifford Middle School for 15 years.
A failed back surgery led him to a local chiropractor. After the first adjustment he felt relief from the back pain he had dealt with for years even after his surgery. He was told by the chiropractor that his payment was to go to school and become a chiropractor and “pay it forward”. That is exactly what he did.
In 1983 at the age of 38, he entered Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia.
He graduated in 1986 with his Doctorate of Chiropractic. He is licensed in the state of Florida Chiropractic Physician and a Diplomate of Florida and National Chiropractic Board of Examination.
He has many certifications to his credit, applied kinesiology, activator technique, Thompson technique, Dr. Brimhall 10 Step Protocol and Nutritional Response Therapy-Dr. Ulan.
He is a member in good standing of the Florida Chiropractic Association and Florida Chiropractic Physician Association.
He is married to Linda, the office manager and together they have 8 children ranging from age 23 to 46. They have 14 grandchildren with the 15th due in July.
They attend Lake Eustis Christian Church together.
Dr. Cassara was the Past President of Vero Beach Jaycees and Delta Sigma Chi Fraternity at Life University. He and Linda are members of the Italian American Club and he is a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge.
He enjoys fishing, playing the piano, and reading books on the history of Florida.
Their getaway place is their cabin in the Ocala National Forest. He is a country boy at heart!
